Broad Creek Landing, Hilton Head |
The south end of Hilton Head Island serves as the home of a quaint and diverse neighborhood known as “Broad Creek Landing.” This special area is considered by many to be a “hidden jewel” in Hilton Head’s “crown.” Broad Creek Landing was once a quietly growing community, but as others learned of its numerous qualities, it began slowing booming.
Conveniently located off Point Comfort Road, Broad Creek Landing is close to Palmetto Bay Road and the Cross Island Parkway. This affords residents easy access to local shopping, entertainment and amenities, plus enables residents to travel to the island’s north end, or off island, with relative ease.
Approximately 304 villas make up Broad Creek Landing, which is loosely separated into several areas including: Compass Point, Forest Cove, Three Mast Lane, Shipwatch, Quartermaster and Anchorage Point. According to residents and realtors, the community is still reasonably affordable, features many desirable amenities and offers a variety of floor plans, which will appeal to today’s savvy homebuyer.
The purchase price for some of the villas is for the villa only. Others include the land and the home in the purchase price. The plethora of choices, from townhomes to rental apartments, has only added to the growing popularity of Broad Creek Landing.
Eileen Harrell, current Board President of Broad Creek Landing, said she feels “blessed” both with her home and her neighborhood. Harrell first came to Hilton Head about twelve years ago. Unlike many “transplants,” she had not vacationed here before.
Harrell took a leap of faith and left her home in Virginia, not far from Washington, D.C. and made her home on Hilton Head. About three years ago, she was presented with the opportunity to move from her first island residence to Broad Creek Landing. Harrell cheerfully accepted and now reports that she feels “right at home.”
According to Harrell, one of the most beneficial aspects of Broad Creek Landing is its “Location! Location! Location!” And she loves how family-friendly Broad Creek Landing is. Harrell also praises how quiet and peaceful this neighborhood is. With her busy life, she is thankful to have a wonderful place to relax, especially at the end of a hectic day.
Being on the water enables Broad Creek Landing’s residents to enjoy the abundance of our area’s wildlife at their back door. Picturesque views year round have also helped to increase the value of Broad Creek Landing properties and re-sales in this area are reportedly very popular.
Jo Flint, Broad Creek Landing’s Property Manager, said coming to work is an “absolute pleasure.” She takes pride in her position and considers it to be constantly enjoyable. One day, for example, she was treated to a bald eagle making its nest just outside her office. Flint said that “it just doesn’t get much better than this.”
She also commented that most of the Broad Creek Landing owners are also residents, which helps lend stability to the neighborhood, and it adds to the serenity of the area, as well.
According to Flint, the homeowners took control of Broad Creek Landing back in June of 1982. Since then, they have worked hard to maintain high standards of living for their residents, and it shows. Families of all ages now call Broad Creek Landing “home.” They enjoy the convenient location, gorgeous views, and peaceful surroundings.
First-time homebuyers, second homeowners, and those seeking an investment property are all seeing the value in making a purchase from among the many choices available at Broad Creek Landing. Whether you’re a single professional or young family, you will surely agree that this community offers a great value within beautiful surroundings.
